COMMUNIQUÉ EN FRANÇAIS CI-DESSOUS

Backslash and Paris-Beijing Gallery are pleased to present a common booth designed around four female artists: France Bizot and Lucia Tallová on one side, Odonchimeg Davaadorj and Gözde ĺlkin on the other side.

On the one hand will be associated the works of Odonchimeg Davaadorj and Gözde ĺlkin. Their delicate works around yarn, sewing and drawing and whose themes, on one side universal (body, death, nature, motherhood), on the other, inscribed in the contemporary world (power, borders, urban transformation), together form a global vision of our world.
On the other hand, these fabrics and drawings, simply pinned as the artists wish, will echo the hyper-realist drawings of France Bizot on covers of diverted books. These will respond to the diversion of Lucia Tallová's photographs. Both thus create a new poetic link between distinct universes.

Using mainly sewing, drawing and painting, as well as video and sound installations, Gözde Ilkin constructs forms of conflicting interactions within found domestic tissue patterns. In the process, she refers to social and political relationships / manipulation, boundaries, power issues, gender attitudes and urban transformation. She received a first solo exhibition in France at the Paris-Beijing Gallery and will be in residence at Mac Val for several months.

Of Mongolian origin, Odonchimeg Davaadorj faced a new Western culture starting at the age of 17 for the Czech Republic and then France. The artist has built a rare proximity with nature. Her works are like a zoom on small universes which, united together, reveal the unconscious of the artist, very attracted by poetry and strangeness. Odonchimeg Davaadorj is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure of Paris-Cergy. Her work has been noticed on the Paris scene over the last two years, notably at the Salon de Montrouge in 2018. Backslash has host her first solo exhibition in January 2019. Her work is currently exhibited at La Verrière Hermès in Brussels.

Virtuoso of the pencil, France Bizot began in 2017 a series of drawings on books that she collects. Each book is carefully chosen for its cover and title and the artist's imagination creates images, often tinged with humor, in relation to the stories of these writings. France Bizot is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. In 2018 she won the first prize at the Derwent Art Prize in London. She is represented by Backslash which dedicated in June 2019 a fourth solo exhibition.

Lucia Tallová's work is at the crossroads of various media. She intervenes on photographs and objects that she reworks, assembles and deploys in space. The manipulations and themes she questions create a new link both material and poetic between the elements presented. Her installations respond to a common methodology: objects, paintings, old photographs, collages and albums are painstakingly arranged on a system of wooden shelves.
Far from being a simple support, these structures are determining each composition. Her protocol is rigorously applied to each intervention while responding to different spatial constraints: new forms are born according to the characteristics of the place. Lucia Tallová is considered an influential figure in the young Slovak art scene.

La galerie Backslash et la galerie Paris-Beijing sont heureuses de présenter un stand commun pensé autour de quatre artistes femmes : France Bizot et Lucia Tallová d’un côté, Odonchimeg Davaadorj et Gözde ĺlkin de l’autre. 

D’une part seront associés les travaux d’Odonchimeg Davaadorj et de Gözde ĺlkin. Leur travail délicat autour du fil, de la couture et du dessin et dont les thèmes, d’un côté universels (le corps, la mort, la nature, la maternité), de l’autre inscrits dans le contemporain (le pouvoir, les frontières, la transformation urbaine), forment ensemble une vision globale de notre monde.
D’autre part, les tissus et dessins, simplement punaisés comme le souhaitent les artistes, feront echo aux dessins hyperréalistes de France Bizot sur des couvertures de livres détournées. Ceux-ci répondront aux propres détournements des photographies de Lucia Tallová. Toutes deux crééant ainsi un nouveau lien poétique entre des univers distincts.

En utilisant principalement la couture, le dessin et la peinture, ainsi que des installations vidéo et sonores, Gözde Ilkin construit des formes d’interactions conflictuelles au sein de motifs de tissus domestiques trouvés. Dans le processus, elle fait référence aux relations / manipulation sociales et politiques, aux frontières, aux problèmes de pouvoir, aux attitudes de genre et à la transformation urbaine. Elle a bénéficié d’une première exposition personnelle en France à la galerie Paris-Beijing et sera en résidence au Mac Val pendant plusieurs mois.

D'origine mongole, Odonchimeg Davaadorj s'est confrontée à une nouvelle culture occidentale en partant à l'âge de 17 ans pour la République Tchèque puis la France. L’artiste a construit une proximité rare avec la nature. Ses oeuvres sont comme un zoom sur de petits univers qui, réunis tous ensemble, dévoilent l'inconscient de l'artiste, très attirée par la poésie et l'étrangeté. Odonchimeg Davaadorj est diplômée de l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paris-Cergy. Son travail a été remarqué sur la scène parisienne ces deux dernières années, notamment au Salon de Montrouge en 2018. La galerie Backslash lui a consacré une première exposition personnelle en janvier 2019. Son travail est actuellement exposé à La Verrière Hermès à Bruxelles. 

Virtuose du crayon, France Bizot a commencé en 2017 une série de dessins sur des livres qu'elle collecte. Chaque ouvrage est mûrement choisi pour sa couverture et son titre puis l'imagination de l'artiste crée des images, souvent teintées d'humour, en rapport avec les histoires de ces écrits. France Bizot est diplômée de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. En 2018, elle a obtenu le premier prix du Derwent Art Prize à Londres. Elle est représentée par la galerie Backslash qui lui consacre en juin 2019 une quatrième exposition personnelle. 

Le travail de Lucia Tallová se situe au croisement de divers media. Elle intervient sur des photographies
et objets qu’elle retravaille, assemble et déploie dans l’espace. Les manipulations et les thèmes qu’elle aborde créent un nouveau lien à la fois matériel et poétique entre les éléments présentés. Ses installations répondent à une méthodologie commune : objets, peintures, photographies anciennes, collages et albums sont minutieusement agencés sur un système d’étagères en bois. Loin d’être un simple support, ces structures déterminent chaque composition. Son protocole est rigoureusement appliqué à chaque intervention tout en répondant aux différentes contraintes spatiales : des formes nouvelles naissent selon les caractéristiques du lieu. Lucia Tallová est considérée comme une figure influente de la jeune scène artistique slovaque.
