Backslash is delighted to present a focus on Congolese artist Arno Luzamba Bompere, whose work questions the history of Man and his environment. His practice is imbued with a poetic language in which plant motifs embody the multiple connections that shape human societies. His new series, “Le souffle des possibles” (The Breath of Possibilities), questions the Anthropocene, where the link between humans and their environment is being torn apart, where the balance has been disrupted. The artist explores the power of beauty and hope in order to imagine the return of harmony between Man and Nature.

France Bizot's drawings often appear on unusual and unusual supports. The French artist appreciates the idea of confronting new paper-substrates. In this way, her imagination unfolds on book covers or old photographs, whose original textures give them a patina of authenticity.

Mongolian artist Odonchimeg Davaadorj, nominated for the Drawing Now 2021 prize, has built up a rare closeness to nature acquired during her childhood on the steppes of her native country. She draws inspiration from this to develop works imbued with a certain nostalgia and intense poetic power.

The booth will also feature new works by American artist Riley Holloway, who explores themes of personal memory and identity. For Drawing Now, the artist will be using oil pastels for the first time. His small portraits, like pocket icons, showcase his great talent as a colorist. Considered one of the most promising artists of his generation, Holloway studied portraiture in Italy, where he admired the art of centuries-old European portraiture.

Nominated for the Drawing Now 2023 prize, Korean artist Stella Sujin presents a series of watercolors on the themes of the invisible and the bizarre, inspired by witches, hybrid creatures and medieval engravings. Works in all formats enchant visitors, revealing the other side of the mirror and the strange rites of magic.

Backslash est heureuse de proposer un focus sur l’artiste congolais Arno Luzamba Bompere dont l'univers questionne l’histoire de l’Homme et de son environnement. Sa pratique est empreinte d'un langage poétique où les motifs végétaux incarnent les multiples connexions qui façonnent les sociétés humaines. Sa nouvelle série "Le souffle des possibles " interroge l’Anthropocène où le lien unissant l’humain à son environnement est déchiré, où l’équilibre est rompu. L'artiste explore la force de la beauté et de l’espoir afin de penser le retour de l’harmonie entre Homme et Nature.

Les dessins de France Bizot se dévoilent fréquemment sur des supports inédits et insolites. L’artiste française apprécie l’idée d’avoir à se confronter à de nouvelles matières de papier-support. Ainsi, son imaginaire se déploie sur des couvertures de livres ou de vieilles photographies dont les textures originales apportent un grain patiné d’authenticité.

L’artiste mongole Odonchimeg Davaadorj, nommée au prix Drawing Now 2021, a construit une proximité rare avec la nature acquise lors de son enfance dans les steppes de son pays natal. Elle s’en inspire pour développer des œuvres empruntes d’une certaine nostalgie et au pouvoir poétique intense.

Le stand proposera également des oeuvres inédites de l’artiste américain Riley Holloway qui explore les thèmes de la mémoire personnelle et de l’identité. A l’occasion de Drawing Now, l’artiste se confronte pour la première fois au pastel gras. Ses petits portraits, telles des icônes de poches, mettent en valeur son grand talent de coloriste. Considéré comme l’un des artistes les plus prometteurs de sa génération, Holloway a étudié l’art du portrait en Italie où il a pu admirer l’art du portait européen séculaire.

Nommée au prix Drawing Now 2023, l’artiste coréenne Stella Sujin propose un ensemble d’aquarelles sur les thèmes de l’invisible et du bizarre, inspirés des sorcières, des créatures hybrides ou encore des gravures moyenâgeuses. Les œuvres de tous formats enchantent le parcours du visiteur tout en lui dévoilant l’autre côté du miroir et les rites étranges de la magie.
